Before it becomes a butterfly, a caterpillar goes through a growth stage during which it is called a "chrysalis." On the surface it may not look like much is happening, but the delicate chrysalis process changes the caterpillar into an awesome butterfly

The chrysalis process symbolizes how Christ can transform a young adult into something beyond their dreams. It happens when they grow beyond themselves, opening their life to Jesus' power and love. Caterpillars spend three days with other people their age in worship, prayer, fellowship, creative expression, recreation, singing, and discussion. They experience the love of God through prayers and the acts of service from a loving support community. Think of it as three days for them to discover or rediscover their  spiritual selves, to analyze and realize who they are in Christ.

They will hear talks that focus on the needs of maturing youth or young adults. We offer the message of the gospel and the friendship and example of Jesus Christ. Each day speakers present topics with life examples, followed by discussion, reflection, and creative expression of how these messages can encourage their personal faith

Chrysalis "Flights" (for 9th through 12th graders) are three-day events. This three-day spiritual renewal time provides an opportunity for the student to learn more about faith, to experience Christian love and support, and to make new faith commitments. The point is to inspire, challenge and equip them for a closer friendship with Christ and for Christian action at home, church, school, and community.

Chrysalis lifts up a way for the young person to enjoy Christ's friendship and love and to be Christ’s friend and partner in the world. The three days focus on God's grace, their experience with Christ as a friend, what it means to be the body of Christ, and giving love to a needy world.

The "Caterpillars" will be surrounded by people who are eager to show God's love  and have given not only of there time but also finances. Each person serving on the Flight pays the same as the Caterpillars for the weekend. This is done, not only to cover expenses for each person but also to ensure we have fully committed our selves to serving God in such a wonderful way.

The Flight

Although they are held the same 3 days, and at the same place, each flight (Boys & Girls) is separate. They each have separate living quarters, separate conference rooms, separate musicians, separate Board Representatives. There is a male Lay Director and Spiritual Director for the boys, and a female Lay Director and Spiritual Director for the girls. Each flight has their own table leaders and assistant table leaders. The boy’s and girls do, however, share the same dinning room at the same time. The clergy talks are shared at the same time for the boy’s and girls, as well as the Marriage talk. All other talks are given separately. Students sign-in on the morning of the first day, and Closing is held in the afternoon of the third day.

Registration Forms need to be in the hands of the Registrar no later than 2 weeks prior to the flight. We need 6 applicants for each gender (or 12 total) in order for these Flights to “take off”. The cost of the flight is $25 per person.

Each "Caterpillar" will need to be sponsored by someone that has been through a Chrysalis Flight or an Emmaus Walk
